The ink hadn’t dried on the historic agreement between Western allies and Iran seeking to curb latter’s nuclear weapons program when, predictably, it was denounced by saber-rattling right-wingers in Israel and Washington.
Whether the deal makes sense or not will be debated in the coming months. Obama plans to undertake a 60-day campaign to sell the accord to a skeptical public. His sales pitch will, of course, fall on the deaf ears of certain players (namely those mentioned earlier).
I, for one, believe it’s time to give diplomacy a chance. War in that part of the world can have devastating and unpredictable consequences, a fact of which Americans should be well aware.
